Headlight restoration is the process of cleaning, repairing, and rejuvenating foggy, yellowed, or oxidized headlights to restore their clarity and improve their functionality. Over time, headlights can become cloudy due to exposure to UV rays, road debris, and environmental factors.
Over time, headlights can become cloudy due to exposure to UV rays, road debris, and environmental factors. If left unattended, replacement of the headlights may be necessary and can be costly.
The restoration process typically involves sanding, polishing, and applying a protective coating to remove the oxidation and bring back the headlights' transparency and brightness. This improves both the appearance of the vehicle and the effectiveness of the headlights in providing clear visibility at night.
Headlights are washed and get a clay bar treatment to remove any bugs, dirt or debris that may be stuck on the lens.
Headlights are sanded down, working our way up from 1000 grit to 3000 grit. This step removes the heavy oxidation and yellowing, leaving a smooth and leveled surface. Sanding marks are then buffed and polished out to bring back a like-new lens.
Lens is wiped with a prep spray and then are protected with a headlight sealant to keep the clarity for longer. For longer lasting protection, a ceramic coating can be applied to the headlights.
